Collaborative Practice is a conflict resolution method.
Collaborative Practice
Collaborative Practice is a conflict resolution method in which the participants focus their efforts on reaching a mutually agreeable resolution without going to court. Professionals are retained in the collaborative process for the sole purpose of assisting clients in attaining this goal. The professionals often work in teams which are designed to meet the specific needs of the parties.

Attorneys assist clients in understanding the issues to be resolved and negotiating settlements that address the needs and interests of all participants. Collaborative coaches help clients address emotional issues and improve communication skills. Along with child specialists, collaborative divorce coaches help clients develop parenting plans that fit their children's needs. Financial Professionals can assist the parties in understanding the complex financial issues as well as in developing options that best suit their individual situations.

Financial Planning
Certified Divorce Financial Analysts (CDFAs) are specially trained neutral financial professionals who in Collaborative Practice help the couple evaluate their current and future financial situation and develop solutions to complex financial problems. They prepare workable budgets, prioritize financial needs, and assess tax consequences of such areas as property division and support options. In mediation, CDFAs provide the same types of services to either the couple or an individual.

A mediator helps parties communicate and focus on the real issues at the heart of the dispute.
Mediation
Mediation is a process in which a third-party neutral assists parties in resolving a dispute that exists between them. The mediator helps parties communicate in a meaningful and open manner, assisting them in focusing on the real issues at the heart of the dispute and in generating options/choices that will meet the interests or needs of all the parties involved. Agreements reached between the parties will then be drafted professionally ensuring that all necessary procedural requirements are met.
